Poetry by Phyllis Imhoff

Have what you say?

What if it’s true?
Words
That whatever you
Say
You can have or get!
I am scared to death!
According to His Word, His Promises
Words
Powerful, sharp
You make me sick!
Could we bridle the tongue?
That’s foolishness you say,
I have tried it, it doesn’t work.
What did you?
Say!
Pregnant with failure or success
Should we not buy clothes for the baby?
Follow through
Til victory, not ceasing
Would it hurt-injure-hinder?
Say. Believe. The answer
Refuse to acknowledge the problem.
Speaking solutions, faith
I feel sick.  It’s my allergies.
I’m taking the flu. I have cancer.
I have the blood!

Searching for Silence

Searching for silence
Hide in my room
Voices chatter, television murmur
Car engines whrr
Phone rings

Searching for silence
Kids outside, TV off
Train rumbles
Washer spinning
Siren whines

Searching for silence
Night arrives, no voices, no cars
Air conditioner humming
Airplane drone
Dog barks

Searching for silence
Turn off air, dog out
Refrigerator burr
Clock ticking
Husband snoring

Searching for silence
Unplug refrigerator
Battery out of clock
Pillow on husbands head
Soundless, quiet, still
Silent!

Branches

Supportive trunk
Rooted deep into the soil
Of Gods marvelous love
Embracing the Word
Reaching outward
Toward the Son
Diverse branches like rainbow colors
Bending expanding
Seasonal transformations
Perpetual cultivation
My Father is the Gardener
Flourishing thriving
From Son light
Sanctified bungalow
Tempest cover
Grafting in the multitudes

The Altar

Do you see the altar?
Have you time to come,
There upon your knees?

Can you find the altar,
Within your hurry world?
Must you climb and push?
Then do, come.

Get to the altar
The spot you meet with God
Then stop.

Stop!
Can you?  Will you?
Stay.
Be with Him.

My Daddy

My Daddy
He swang spider with me
We giggled and kissed
He got up first
Everyday
We fished and fished
He took us down cow paths
We never got lost
His gardens were the best
My Daddy could fix
Anything and everything
He built things too
He taught me to saw
And nail and create
He created a lot
Daddy loved us all a lot
We loved him too
Daddy knew joy
He danced around
And giggled
He played a lot
I am looking forward
To the day I can
Dance with Daddy
In heaven
And giggle.

Holy Christmas Glitter
Holy, Holy
Dance in Glitter
Celebrating Rebirth.
Holy Holy
Its Amazing
How He’s showing us
How much we are worth.
Peace descending,
Never-ending.
Joy is come, I’m spinning
Up in the heavens
Shining glory.
Holy Holy
Sweet Nirvana
I know this happy ending
Ever After.
Holy Laughter.
Decorations, flowers
Butterflies.
Holy, Holy
Shining tinsel.
Tinselfy the world,
With Word of Rebirth.
Holy, Holy
We are singing.
Has He told you yet
How much you are worth?

A Couples Communion

Happy Wedding!
Happy Life!
May the covenant you’ve made
Stay Strong & Sweet
All your days.
Like your covenant with the Lord.
Keep your vows forevermore.
Shield one another in every storm.
Agree to stay, in cold or warm.
Know it will not all be good.
This above all must be understood.
Together remember your covenant with Jesus,
Sharing Communion often- Do This.
Attach your hearts to Him,
Devote your lives to Him,
With Blood to cleanse,
And Bread to give life,
To your union as husband and wife.

Jesus told us to take communion often remembering Him!
As you take communion together as husband and wife, and even as a new family,
Remember He is always there to help you with your marriage and family!
